What to include

It saves a round trip if you tell us:

  • Your iPhone model and iOS version
  • The SkillSpark version, shown at the bottom of the Profile tab
  • The skill and lesson where it happened
  • A screenshot if there is anything to see

Common questions

The things people ask first

How does the one-time unlock work?

SkillSpark is free to download. Every skill has free lessons you can work through without paying anything.

Unlock Everything is a single in-app purchase of $19.99 that opens all 50 skills and every lesson in them, permanently. There is one purchase and that is it. No subscription, no per-skill upsells, no monthly charge, and no way for us to bill you again.

Because it is a non-consumable purchase tied to your Apple ID, it also covers every iPhone you sign in on, and it survives deleting and reinstalling the app.

I bought the unlock but it is not showing. How do I restore it?

This usually means the app has not checked in with Apple yet, or you are signed in with a different Apple ID than the one that made the purchase.

  1. Make sure you are signed in to SkillSpark with the same Apple ID you used to buy.
  2. Open the Profile tab.
  3. Tap Restore Purchases.

If it still does not appear, close the app fully, reopen it, and try once more. Failing that, email us with the Apple receipt for the purchase and we will sort it out manually.

How does Sign in with Apple work here, and do you see my email?

SkillSpark uses Sign in with Apple so there is no password to invent or forget. Apple authenticates you and hands us an account identifier and an email address.

If you choose Hide My Email, the address we receive is an Apple private relay address. We never see your real one, and mail we send to the relay is forwarded to you by Apple. You can revoke that relay at any time in iOS under Settings, your name, Sign in with Apple.

We never see your Apple ID password. Full detail is in the privacy policy.

How do I delete my account and everything in it?

Email support@skillspark.ca from the address on your account, with the subject "Delete my SkillSpark account".

We delete the account and every row linked to it: your email address, display name, interests, lesson progress, purchase record, and notification token. Requests are actioned within 30 days and we confirm by email when it is done. Backups are fully purged within 90 days.

Anything held only on your phone, including your challenge photos, streaks and badges, is removed by deleting the app. We cannot delete those for you, because we never had them.

One caveat worth knowing before you do it: the in-app purchase belongs to your Apple ID, not to us. Deleting your SkillSpark account does not refund it and does not remove it from Apple's records. If you sign up again later with the same Apple ID, you can restore the unlock.

Can I get a refund?

Apple handles all payments and all refunds for in-app purchases, so we cannot issue one directly. Request it at reportaproblem.apple.com with the Apple ID that made the purchase.

If the reason you want a refund is that something in the app is broken, email us first. It is usually faster to fix it.

Does SkillSpark work offline?

Mostly. Lessons you have already opened are cached on the device, so you can keep going on a plane or in the woods. If you are signed in, your progress syncs the next time you have a connection.

Skills you have never opened need a connection the first time, because the lesson content and images are fetched then.

An image is missing or shows a placeholder

A small number of lesson illustrations are still being produced, and those lessons show a clean placeholder rather than a broken image. The lesson itself works normally.

Missing artwork arrives in free updates. Nothing is paywalled behind it.

I lost my streak

Streaks count consecutive days with at least one completed lesson, in your device's local time zone. Crossing time zones or a day with no completed lesson will reset it.

If your streak dropped on a day you know you practised, email us with the date and we will look at the record on your account.

Do I have to make an account?

No. Tap Continue without an account at the start and everything works. You can browse all 50 skills, do the free lessons, and build progress and streaks, all held on your device.

An account is worth having for two things: it carries your progress to a new phone, and it is how the unlock gets restored after a reinstall. Signing in with Apple takes a couple of taps and needs no password.

Where do my photo challenge pictures go?

Onto your phone, and nowhere else. A photo you take or pick for a lesson challenge is saved into SkillSpark's own folder on the device. It is never uploaded, we never receive it, and there is no server holding a copy.

That also means we cannot delete them for you. Deleting the app removes them along with everything else it stored locally.

How do I turn daily reminders on or off?

Reminders are off until you turn them on. Open the Profile tab, switch on Daily Reminders, and set the time you want to be nudged.

To stop them, turn the same switch off, or turn off notifications for SkillSpark in iOS Settings.

Something is broken, or a lesson is wrong

Tell us. Content corrections are taken seriously here, especially on skills where being wrong has consequences. Email support@skillspark.ca with the skill, the lesson, and what is wrong, and it gets fixed in the next content update.
